Words of Wisdom from a Pro Co Brat

Quite honestly PRO CO has been making some of the best guitar pedals in the USA for some time. Pretty much every guitar pedal collector has owned a RAT stomp box at least once during their obsession.

Since the 70's the RAT has hung in there with the classic distortion pedals like the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff and the MXR Distortion Plus.  However, it's time to shed a little light onto another Pro Co model-The Brat (AKA Roadkill or Bratkill).

A while back, I heard an Internet Rumour about the Brat and the Roadkill being one in the same.  The faceplate is to be reversible.  One side of the plate should have the 80's Beach Party Brat graphic.  The other should have the 90's Grunge Roadkill graphic.  I have decided to take look into it.

The rumour is not true.  The faceplate is not reversible. Unless one likes the blank steel look.  Which may be interesting as a "Mystery Pedal" on the floor.  But that is another story.  The graphic is meerley a decal.

Under the hood the "Bratkill" uses a LM308 chip like other Rat distortion pedals.  It (or they) also include some words of wisdom.  Imprinted on the board is the fortune cookie-esc phrase "DETERMINATION IS STREGNTH - FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS - BRAT - O.D.C 1996" Pro Co must be a fun place to work.

With other members of the Pro Co family fetching big bucks these days. Perhaps the discontiuned "Bratkill" is an option for pedal collectors on cheap.  Prices usually run in the $50-$75 range.  Other Rats are two or three times that at least.  It does have a lot of same tones as other Rats.  As well as some of the great quaility that Pro Co provides. Plus if one is a Millinial it's vintage and ancient history.
